Isaac’s Trip

Hey Everyone,

As promised, I am writing some specifics from Isaac’s trip.  His trip was very successful, so once again thank you SO much for cimg4749your prayers.  The Lord’s hand was definitely on Isaac as he went to India to search for ways to implement further ministry there.  He was introduced to many of the directors and leaders of other ministries in North-Eastern India, and is now on a  first name basis with them.  They were all very helpful and excited to help Isaac out in whatever he needed to know/see.  Please continue to keep this in your prayers.  Pray that the Lord would confirm His plans.

This all being said…  Isaac did have an entirely different adventure coming home!  In the wild East of Nepal, anything can happen… and does regularly.  The day that Isaac was supposed to leave and come home he was notfied upon arrival at the airport that there hadn’t been any flights for the last three days and that there probably wouldn’t be any for that day either.  When he inquired about when he would be guaranteed a spot on a plane he was informed that they couldn’t guarantee a seat for the next four days.  Hmm…  What should Isaac do next?

He decided that a bus would be faster than waiting on a non-guaranteed seat on a plane.  Little did he know that he was embarking on an adventure.  So Isaac departed on a bus and got about 70km before the bus was stopped at the Kushi River, where the bridge had been destroyed earlier last year during monsoon.  What was now operating was a hand-cranked ferry on a rope and pulley system across the biggest and most powerful river in Nepal carying overstuffed busses with many passengers and every other imported thing you can imagine.  The video below is Isaac’s reaction to the situation.

Just as he thought he was about to go over, the workers raised the red flag signaling that the day was done and that no one else was to cross.  So to sum up his night by the river, I will say that he was led (praise the Lord) to a place where he could eat and sleep.  Isaac’s first night in a village hut!  The owner of the house had been having some health problems and Isaac had thecimg4785opportunity to share a little about our faith and to pray for him.  The next morning he was all ready to go when a thick fog started to roll in.  A boy he met while he was there said that if the fog came futher toward the ferry that the whole thing would shut down until it subsided.  Isaac, not wanting to wait another 2 hours to leave, told the boy that he would pray to God that it would go away.  Immediately after praying the fog stopped in its tracks and started rolling back down the river at the same speed that it came up at.  He said that the hair on his neck stood up!  The boy with huge eyes said, “Your God hears you!”

So Isaac got back on the bus and made it to a rest area.  He was contemplating the figures that were told to him about when he would reach home, the bus driver said that it would take another 15 hours to get to Kathmandu, when a car pulled up and an English speaking man stepped out and started talking to Isaac.  The man said that 15 hours was optimistic, in reality it was more like 20 hours.  He said that it would take him 8 hours in his car and that he had an extra seat.  What a blessing!  He then happily invited Isaac to take the last seat in his car when he saw that Isaac only had a backpack for luggage.  So…  9 hours later my husband made it home in one piece.  It would seem that the only way you could make it to Kathmandu in 8 hours is to speed on the windy roads in the mountains, which is exactly what this man did.  We are all so happy to have Isaac back here again.  He is all caught up on rest and his neck muscles are loosening a bit. We really to appreciate all of your prayers here.  I know that we both could really feel them last week!
